2B (Doubles)
A double puts a runner in scoring position on his own, without needing a second event to move him. That is most of why it is worth so much more than a single in every run-value model.
Doubles are also the most park- and profile-dependent extra-base hit. A line-drive hitter in a park with deep gaps will collect them; the same swing in a small park turns some of them into home runs and some into fly outs.
In NUT, doubles are one of the clearest separators between two hitters with similar averages. Thirty-five doubles against fifteen is roughly a third of a win of production, all of it invisible in the batting-average column.
What is a good 2B?
Doubles carry roughly 1.6 times the wOBA weight of a single, so a doubles-heavy season lifts NUT well above what batting average alone suggests.
